Avvoka Partners with Harvey to Launch Curate for Document Templates

Avvoka, a platform specialising in drafting automation, has announced a partnership with Harvey, alongside the launch of a new feature called Curate. This feature aims to transform a law firm’s transaction documents into high quality templates.

Harvey has been actively forming partnerships recently, including a recent collaboration with DeepL for translation services. The partnership with Avvoka is noted to combine domain specific legal artificial intelligence with a deterministic drafting engine, ensuring that a firm’s precision and judgement are incorporated into every draft.

The integration allows legal teams to initiate their work within Harvey while adhering to the standards established by their firm. Lawyers can begin with an approved template, incorporate matter specific details, utilise pre approved clauses, and manage document negotiations without exiting the Harvey platform.

Curate is designed to significantly expedite the template creation process, allowing firms to develop templates in a matter of hours. This represents a substantial improvement over the traditional method, which often requires months of knowledge management and partner involvement, yielding limited results.

This partnership and product launch follow a £14 million investment in Avvoka earlier this year, indicating strong financial backing for their innovative solutions.

David Howorth, Co founder of Avvoka, remarked that a firm’s competitive advantage lies not in the speed of drafting but in the judgement derived from years of experience with leading market deals and negotiations. He emphasised that Curate enables firms to leverage their accumulated knowledge on every matter, creating a knowledge asset that improves with each transaction.

The recent developments suggest that major legal AI platforms, such as Harvey, are becoming central hubs for legal technology, prompting various point solutions to seek strategic partnerships. The objective is to integrate where clients are actively working.

If Avvoka can indeed streamline the template creation process to just a few hours while delivering high quality results, this innovation will likely attract interest from law firms and in house legal teams. However, the effectiveness of these templates will ultimately determine their value in practice.
