Harvey Expands Collaboration with Microsoft to Enhance Legal Operations
Harvey has strengthened its partnership with Microsoft by providing its legal AI platform to the tech giant's Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) group. This collaboration coincides with Microsoft's expanded internal use of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Currently, Microsoft 365 Copilot employs multiple models, having evolved from its initial reliance on OpenAI's ChatGPT language models to also include offerings from Anthropic. Additionally, Microsoft is reportedly developing its own 'Legal Agent', which is being staffed by former members of the Robin AI team. Despite the availability of these proprietary tools, the CELA team has opted to utilise Harvey.
According to Harvey, this partnership will enable CELA to leverage the AI platform to enhance operational efficiency and improve team workflows. This move underscores Microsoft's ongoing commitment to integrating AI technologies to optimise efficiency and deliver high quality outcomes at scale.
Winston Weinberg, CEO of Harvey, commented on the significance of this deepening relationship, stating that CELA's adoption of Harvey marks a pivotal moment in their long standing collaboration with Microsoft. He noted that this development reflects a broader trend among leading legal teams to incorporate AI as an integral component of their operations.
Weinberg further explained that the decision to adopt Harvey followed a comprehensive evaluation process by CELA, highlighting the importance of due diligence in enterprise deployments. He expressed gratitude for the longstanding relationship with Microsoft, emphasising that their products are essential to legal professionals.
Antony Cook, Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Microsoft, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded collaboration, stating that it aligns with Microsoft's broader efforts to harness AI for operational enhancements. He noted that this partnership will enable teams to work more efficiently and concentrate on complex, high impact tasks.
In related news, two significant Legal Innovators Conferences are scheduled for November in New York and London. Legal Innovators UK will take place on 4 and 5 November, followed by Legal Innovators New York on 17 and 18 November. These events will feature discussions on advancements in legal technology and AI.
