Lawyer's Office Transformed into Giant Ball Pit as Fundraising Prank

A lawyer at the US firm Jenner and Block has executed a unique fundraising initiative by filling a colleague's office with 25,000 plastic balls. This elaborate prank followed the firm's successful achievement of a charity donation target.

The idea originated from managing partner Lindsay Harrison, who had promised colleagues that if the Washington DC office exceeded last year's fundraising total for Legal Aid DC, they would turn fellow lawyer Matt Klapper's office into a giant ball pit.

The fundraising campaign proved fruitful, raising a total of $73,820, which is approximately £55,000. This amount not only surpassed last year's total of around $54,000 but also set a new record for the firm's DC office.

Harrison, in a LinkedIn post, explained that a simple matching incentive was insufficient to motivate the team. The challenge also served as an opportunity for some light hearted office revenge, as Klapper had previously played a prank on his colleagues on April Fools' Day.

With the fundraising goal achieved, Harrison and her family dedicated their weekend to transforming Klapper's office into what she described as a child's ball pit fever dream. Images shared on social media depict the office submerged under thousands of brightly coloured balls, with around 50 beach balls added to the mix.

However, a question remains regarding the fate of the 25,000 plastic balls once the prank concludes. Harrison has reached out on LinkedIn, seeking suggestions for what to do with the surplus balls, stating, “If anyone on LinkedIn has a need for 25,000 balls, plus about 50 beach balls, my DMs are open.”
