Litera Relaunches with Centralised Agent for Legal Technology Integration
Litera, a prominent player in legal technology, has announced a relaunch centred around its Lito agent, which aims to unify its business of law and practice of law capabilities into a single offering.
Lito is designed to be embedded natively within Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, facilitating a range of functions including drafting, comparison, contract review, institutional knowledge, and client development. This integration eliminates the need for separate tools, logins, or datasets, thereby streamlining the user experience.
While Lito has been part of Litera's offerings, the company is now refocusing its strategy to highlight this single point of contact. This approach is intended to enhance user understanding of the extensive features available within the platform, which have been developed through various mergers and acquisitions over the past decade.
Litera acknowledges that many users may be uncertain about the full scope of its offerings and the capabilities of its artificial intelligence tools. For example, Kira, a product known for its natural language processing and machine learning capabilities, has recently been enhanced with generative AI features, allowing it to connect with other tools.
The solution to simplifying access to these diverse technologies is the introduction of a single agent, which Litera describes as a means to manage all features effectively.
Litera is also emphasising the deterministic nature of its technology, particularly in high stakes legal work. The company claims that its redline algorithm, which has been refined over three decades and processes 10 million comparisons each month, is rules based and deterministic, avoiding the inaccuracies associated with probabilistic models.
Avaneesh Marwaha, Chief Executive Officer of Litera, stated that the separation of the practice of law and the business of law has persisted for too long and that the introduction of Lito will enable all legal professionals to work from the same intelligence.
Adam Ryan, Chief Product Officer, added that while artificial intelligence is now a standard expectation, trust in the technology is paramount. He noted that it is not feasible to retroactively achieve the level of deterministic accuracy that Litera offers.
This relaunch represents a shift in how Litera positions itself within the legal market, focusing on reliability and integration across business data and legal needs.
Litera is not presenting itself as a comprehensive legal solution provider but rather as a reliable partner for law firms, with Lito serving as the central agent in this vision.
