Newcode Secures 13.5 Million Dollars in Series A Funding with Investment from Relativity

Newcode, a company providing a configurable AI platform for law firms, has successfully raised 13.5 million dollars in its Series A funding round. This round saw participation from Relativity's investment arm, Rel Labs, alongside other investors including OnDean Forward, Antiportfolio Ventures, and TLTF.

Based in Norway, Newcode had previously raised approximately 6.5 million dollars in a Seed round earlier this year. With the latest funding, the company has raised a total of 20 million dollars in 2026. A significant portion of this funding will be directed towards expanding its operations in the United States.

Maged Helmy, the founder and CEO of Newcode, expressed optimism about the potential of AI in the legal sector. He stated that the transition to AI native systems requires law firms to have control and flexibility over their AI capabilities. Newcode aims to empower firms to develop AI systems tailored to their specific needs.

Helmy outlined four primary support areas that Newcode focuses on, emphasising the importance of creating a firm owned AI intelligence layer. He believes that legal teams should have access to AI systems designed specifically for their environment, rather than relying on third party vendors or opaque software solutions.

Andrew Sieja, the founder of Relativity and a principal partner at OnDean Forward, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Newcode. He highlighted that the technology enables law firms to take ownership of their AI infrastructure, thereby accelerating the integration of AI into their practices.

Helmy further elaborated on Newcode's position within the legal AI landscape, describing the company as a platform that allows firms to create their own agents, workflows, and knowledge systems. He noted that as the legal market evolves, the need for firms to harness their knowledge will remain constant.

In discussing the challenges related to token costs in AI adoption, Helmy acknowledged that firms often have concerns about usage based pricing models. He emphasised that Newcode offers transparency and cost control measures to help firms manage their AI expenses effectively. By optimising infrastructure and minimising unnecessary processing, Newcode aims to provide predictable cost structures and potentially lower overall spending.

Looking ahead, Newcode will participate in two major legal innovation conferences in November, taking place in London and New York. These events will feature discussions on advancements in legal technology and the future of AI in the legal sector.
