Noxtua Secures €100 Million Investment with C.H. Beck as Majority Shareholder

Noxtua, a pioneer in legal AI, has successfully raised approximately €100 million in a Series C funding round. This investment has resulted in C.H. Beck, a prominent German legal publisher, becoming the majority shareholder. Austrian legal publisher MANZ has also participated in this funding round, while previous investors CMS and Dentons have divested their shares.
Noxtua provides a variety of legal AI solutions designed for multiple workflows. The company stated that the involvement of independent legal publishers as strategic partners presents new opportunities for long term planning and supports its ongoing development as well as its expansion into additional European markets.
As part of its restructuring, Noxtua is realigning its investor base to focus on its content and strategy driven direction. This shift means that the previous investors, including Global Brain Corporation, KDDI Open Innovation Fund, CMS, Dentons, and Dominik Schiener, are stepping back to accommodate this new focus.
Despite selling their shares, CMS and Dentons will continue their collaboration with Noxtua as key anchor clients. CMS was instrumental in the founding of Noxtua in 2024, establishing it as a legal AI solution tailored to the specific needs of legal professionals.
Dr. Leif Nissen Lundbæk, CEO and founder of Noxtua, expressed satisfaction with the new phase of expansion alongside C.H. Beck and MANZ. He noted that Noxtua is developing its offerings based on exclusive content from leading legal publishers across Europe, having already established the continent’s largest legal database and network of independent legal publishers. The joint investment from C.H. Beck and MANZ is viewed as a strong market signal.
Prof. Dr. Klaus Weber, a member of the Executive Board at C.H. Beck, highlighted the importance of combining high quality data with innovative AI technology in a rapidly evolving market. He stated that C.H. Beck’s commitment as Noxtua's majority shareholder reflects an investment in the future of the legal sector, aligning with the values of the family owned company.
This development comes at a time when the landscape of legal publishing is undergoing significant transformation. Noxtua, alongside C.H. Beck and MANZ, is positioning itself as a pan European leader in legal AI and data, with a focus on enhancing European AI sovereignty and providing an alternative to existing US and UK market players.
In related news, Sweden based Legora is also expanding its legal research capabilities through recent mergers and acquisitions, further indicating the growing intersection of legal data and AI in the market.
