RBA Raises Cash Rate to 4.60%
The Reserve Bank of Australia has raised the cash rate by 25 basis points to 4.60%, delivering another increase as inflationary pressures persist.
The decision was unanimous and marks the fourth rate rise of 2026. The RBA pointed to stronger-than-expected domestic growth and inflation, alongside disruption to global oil supplies and higher fuel costs.
The increase will place further pressure on mortgage holders and businesses, with borrowing costs continuing to rise across the economy.
For law firms, the effects could also flow through to transactional activity, property, financing, restructuring and insolvency work.
LawUno Insight: Economic pressure doesn't necessarily reduce demand for lawyers. Often, it simply changes where the work is.
