Relativity Unveils claiR Conversational AI System for Legal Data Insights

Relativity has announced the development of claiR, a conversational AI system designed to leverage customer data stored within RelativityOne. This innovative system can analyse millions of documents, their metadata, and the interconnections among them.
According to the company, claiR grounds every answer and associated work product in a comprehensive and secure system of record, shaped by decades of legal practice. By keeping the data within RelativityOne, the system aims to mitigate the time and risks associated with transferring sensitive information between different tools.
Scheduled for general availability in 2027, claiR is expected to be integrated into RelativityOne at no additional cost. Currently, the system is being tested in collaboration with law firms including Allen & Overy, Shearman & Sterling, Foley & Lardner LLP, and K&L Gates.
Phil Saunders, CEO of Relativity, stated that claiR represents a transformative approach for lawyers, enabling them to access critical legal data more directly. He emphasised that conversational AI has become a standard expectation in the workplace, and claiR allows lawyers to engage with the full richness of their data without relying on technical teams.
claiR utilises the capabilities of Relativity's aiR suite and legal data intelligence platform, ensuring that the insights generated are robust enough for high stakes legal contexts, including court proceedings and regulatory scrutiny.
This development is significant for Relativity, as it enables clients to fully harness the knowledge embedded within their extensive document collections, which are often accumulated through eDiscovery processes. Additionally, the system may enhance long term relationships between law firms and their clients, as in house teams can request external advisors to revisit past matters for potentially relevant insights.
The introduction of claiR follows Relativity's recent strategic initiatives, including its planned integration with Microsoft Word through the acquisition of Gavel, the expansion of Model Context Protocol integrations, and investments in emerging legal technology via its Rel Labs investment arm.
