Spellbook Launches Autonomous Contract Management System Enhancing AI Contract Review

Spellbook, a leading provider of AI contract review tools, has announced the launch of its autonomous contract management (ACM) system, marking a significant advancement in the legal technology landscape.
Scott Stevenson, CEO and founder of Spellbook, described the ACM as a comprehensive end to end infrastructure designed specifically for managing contracts through AI. The system automates the intake of contracts from various sources such as email, Microsoft Teams, and Slack, allowing legal professionals to start their day with reviewed and redlined documents.
The ACM system is designed to streamline the contract lifecycle by automatically tracking communications and maintaining a history of negotiations. This contrasts with traditional contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems that often require manual configuration and can slow down processes.
Stevenson explained that the system operates continuously in the background, proactively managing contract review and risk assessment. This shift from a co pilot model to a fully autonomous system aims to reduce the administrative burden on legal teams, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.
Spellbook's ACM also includes a feature called Radar, set to launch later this year. Radar will monitor regulatory changes and risks that may impact an organisation's portfolio of agreements, providing alerts for updates that could affect compliance.
In terms of data management, Spellbook's system allows for the long term storage of agreements, enabling users to extract relevant information efficiently. This feature is intended to eliminate the need for disparate systems for contract intake, review, and storage.
While Spellbook does not classify its new offering as a traditional CLM tool, Stevenson acknowledged that there remains a role for CLM systems in the legal sector. He emphasised that the integration of AI technology has fundamentally changed the capabilities of contract management software.
The introduction of Spellbook's ACM system represents a significant development in legal technology, promising to enhance efficiency and accuracy in contract management for legal professionals.
